Philosophy
Architecture, in the grandest of contexts, should be timeless, providing the historical ‘bones’ of culture. It is the expression of an entire milieu of conditions, values and visions of the place and time from which it has emerged. As such, the architect provides critical creative translations illuminating these qualities for his clients. The architect's fiduciary responsibility is, first and foremost, to the client, but it also one that extends to all levels of culture and natural environment.
The architect must, therefore, be fully apprised of the dynamic spectrum of contemporary issues and opportunities including emergent energy-conserving and sustainable technologies, historic preservation, human behavior research, and urban settlement trends - and be fully equipped to implement them. As such, an architect must be possessed of a unique broad-based insight into the creative process that will result in real-time solutions to the many challenges facing clients in contemporary society. Additionally, the architect, as shape-giver, must not shy from taking an active role in the shaping of public policy as effects quality of life in our neighborhoods, cities, and country.
Santa Fe is a culturally rich, historically pristine and physically beautiful region of the country that compels a multi-faceted response from an architect. My personal creative mission is to create timeless, well-crafted, energy-efficient, functionally comfortable, contextually sensitive buildings. The process by which this occurs must also be one of discovery and personal expression for the client - one that leaves all involved with a profound sense of accomplishment and long term appreciation for its effect on their lives.
